Blue Jay Substitute Hackle

Blue-dyed guinea fowl or domestic hackle selected to replace protected blue jay feathers in throats and collars on classic Atlantic salmon flies and traditional wet flies. The feather should provide short, mobile blue fibers with dark mottling where the dressing calls for jay.
